Louise joined the firm’s Employment and Dispute Resolution team in early 2012. She was made a Senior Associate in 2017.
Louise advises employers, employees (at all levels), workers, self-employed individuals on all aspects of employment law, with particular emphasis on the resolution of contentious issues through negotiation or, where necessary and appropriate, via the Employment Tribunals and/or Civil Courts. This includes managing the Tribunal/Court process from the outset and conducting settlement negotiations. Louise has a particular specialism in claims involving dismissal, discrimination, harassment, whistleblowing and breach of contract.
Louise is proficient in drafting and advising on all employment documentation to include employment contracts, service agreements, consultancy agreements, staff handbooks and settlement agreements as well as casual, fixed-term and part-time working agreements.
She regularly provides clients and HR professionals with strategic advice and support in relation to all employment queries, policies and procedures involving the workplace including recruitment, performance management, disciplinary, grievance, flexible working, absence management, family leave, IT and communications and restructuring/redundancy consultation. She advises clients with regard to all phases of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) process and in relation to bonus/commission arrangements, confidentiality obligations and post-termination restrictions.
She is commended by her clients for being “academic, well versed in law with first class industry knowledge”, for providing “fast, sound and sensible advice” and for being “a safe pair of hands” in times in crisis.
Louise advises on a wide range of commercial litigation matters from pre-action correspondence through to trial at both County Court and High Court and appeals to the Court of Appeal. Louise has a particular specialism in commercial litigation claims arising from employment matters, to include breach of contract claims, director/shareholder disputes, breaches of restrictive covenants and injunctive action.
She is also experienced in advising in commercial dispute resolution having been involved in disputes ranging from high value debt collection to the enforcement of personal guarantees and professional negligence.
Qualifications and Experience
Louise gained a LLB (Hons) Exempting from the University of Northumbria and was admitted as a Solicitor in February 2010. She has specialised in employment law since her admission.
